Dollar Store Drinks: St. Patrick's Day Green Goodness

If you're tired of green dyed beer, we have an original dollar store cocktail for you.

If there's one thing we all learned from using Ziploc bags it's that yellow and blue make green. Using that hard core scientific knowledge, this week we've mixed yellow and blue dollar store ingredients to make a green St. Patrick's Day cocktail.

The supplies for this cost $2 but leave you with enough mixers to make about a gallon of green goodness.

  • 1 part rum
  • 1 part "blue"
  • 3 parts Orange Juice

Don't pretend you've never seen "blue." It comes in a plastic jug with an aluminum foil lid on top. The flavor is allegedly blue raspberry, though even the berries growing outside a nuclear power plant wouldn't end up that artificial color.

No one is sure what's in "blue," so use it sparingly and never feed it to children. If you're feeling dubious, just keep repeating, "alcohol will kill anything."
