Between 4 to 8 Inches of Snow Expected Tuesday Night; Winter Storm Warning Issued

More snow is on its way.

A winter storm warning has been issued from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 1 p.m. Wednesday for DuPage, Cook, Kendall, Grundy, Will and LaSalle counties where between four to eight inches of snow is expected.

A winter storm advisory has been issued from 10 p.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. Wednesday for Lake, Kane and DeKalb counties where 3 to 6 inches of snow is possible.

Rain is expected to change to snow Tuesday evening. For counties with a winter storm warning, snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour are expected at times while counties with an advisory should expect a snowfall rate of up to one inch per hour.

Wind gusts of 20 to 25 mph — and as high as 40 mph late Tuesday night and through Wednesday morning — could create blizzard-like conditions and blowing and drifting snow. Travel will be treacherous and reduced visibility is expected, according to the NWS.

Travel in and out of O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport is also expected to be affected.
