STATE REPRESENTATIVE CANDIDATE MO KHAN AND AREA RESIDENTS ATTEND “HOUR OF CODE” WORKSHOP

Today, State Representative Candidate (Illinois’ 20th District) Mo Khan and area residents attended a computer science workshop hosted by the Apple Store at Old Orchard Mall.  The workshop was part of the “Hour of Code” initiative designed to promote and encourage students to learn the basics of computer coding.

“I believe it’s critical that our students have the opportunity to learn coding.  We need to make sure that our students are competitive in the increasingly technology based economy,” Khan said.

Khan is a strong advocate for increased technology integration in Illinois schools and has shared his cost-effective ideas with both educators and students.  As a candidate for State Representative, he has undertaken an effort to create an open dialogue with the local high schools and community colleges.  Khan believes, “The economic landscape is changing as we speak.  Chicago has a booming tech sector that will create many new jobs and my focus is to ensure that Illinois students are the best candidates for those jobs.  This is a campaign priority.” 

Khan is a 2003 graduate of Maine South High School, received an accounting degree from the University of Iowa in 2007 and is in the process of earning a law degree from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.  He has previously served as a traveling aide to Hillary Clinton during her 2008 Presidential Campaign and as special assistant to Alexi Giannoulias during the 2010 U.S. Senate Campaign.
