Presence Holy Family Medical Center Presented Honorable Dan Kotowski with the Inspire Award for Exceptional Community Service

Presence Holy Family Medical Center presented Honorable Dan Kotowski, Illinois State Senator, 28th District, with the Inspire Award for exceptional community service on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Senator Kotowski has dedicated his entire adult life to public service, with special interests in advocating for reduced gun violence and improved epilepsy education. He has also helped shape the debate on healthcare, capping property tax assessments, veteran affairs and public safety.

Senator Kotowski, who has epilepsy himself, serves on the boards of the Danny Did Foundation and the Greater Chicago Epilepsy Foundation. The Epilepsy Foundation recently honored him with the Epilepsy Hero Award for his many years of advocacy. Prior to his election, he served as the vice president of UCAN, a social service agency, and was the head of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence. The senator takes full advantage of his elected position, serving on five committees in the Illinois General Assembly, supporting and advocating for important life-saving issues.

More than 75 business leaders, school administrators, community leaders, physicians, elected officials and past award winners, including Sister Catherine Ryan of Maryville Academy, Dr. Margaret Lee of Oakton Community College, Deb Walusiak representing the Self-Help Closet and Pantry of Des Plaines, and Steve Samuelson representing Frisbie Senior Center attended the event.
