Presence Holy Family Medical Center’s (PHFMC) Family Fun Fest will welcome hundreds of families out for an afternoon of free activities and health screenings on Saturday, August 2, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., at its Des Plaines campus, 150 N. River Road, Des Plaines.

Families can “Ask a Doctor” about any medical-related concerns and receive free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, body mass index, sleep disorders, vein and feet. Plus smoking cessation counseling will be available.

Activities include a climbing wall by the YMCA, interactive germ-glow stations, bean bag toss, a book exchange, chair massage by the hospital’s rehabilitation department massage therapists, and free makeovers provided by Avon. The first 100 kids ages 5-17 to enter Fun Fest will receive a free backpack with school supplies.

“Fun Fest promises to inspire community members to get healthy minded by learning more about their conditions, preventing illnesses, while having fun doing it,” said John D. Baird, regional president & CEO. “Many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes can be prevented, so getting regular health screenings are important and we want to do our part in making these screenings accessible and fun, ultimately keeping the community healthy.”

This year’s Family Fun Fest is made possible through partnerships with the Des Plaines Police Department, State Senator Dan Kotowski, State Representative Marty Moylan, Des Plaines Health and Human Services, Lattof YMCA, and the Des Plaines Public Library and Park District, to name a few.
