The Optimist Club of Des Plaines will host it's annual fishing derby and kite fly at Lake Park Saturday, June 7th, beginning at nine A.M. The club will have loaner poles for kids who don't have one, and thanks to a generous donation by DMF Bait, will have a large supply of worms. They'll even put them on the hook for the squeamish. Prizes will be awarded in various categories, and a hotdog lunch will be provided.
The same day features our annual kite fly. The club will provide kites but participants must provide their own energy. Kite flying is a hugely popular sport in many countries, and a wonderful away to enjoy what may be the prettiest park in Des Plaines.
