Cops for Coats Drive Successful in Maine Township

The Second Annual Cops for Coats drive was another successful effort by the Niles, Park Ridge and Des Plaines Police Departments. The overall effort was coordinated by Sgt. Robert Tornabene of Niles, Officer Julie Genualdi of Park Ridge and Officer Mike Heidkamp of Des Plaines.

Approximately 300 clean, gently worn coats were collected from the public and distributed first at an event held at Maine Township Town Hall on Saturday, Nov. 16. Over 100 families including 138 adults and 88 children were provided with 185 of the coats plus various scarves, hats and mittens. Later, the rest of the coats were distributed to other charitable organizations.
