Play On Returns to Oakton; Live Music at Rivers Casino and More This Week

There's plenty to do in Des Plaines this week. Here's a look ahead at some of the highlights:

Monday, July 22 – Oakton Community College Hosts Parent Orientation Night. Parents of incoming students at Oakton Community College, 1600 East Golf Road, Des Plaines, can attend a free orientation session Monday, July 22, 6 – 8 p.m., in Room 1608-1610.

Tuesday, July 23-Thursday July 25 – Tickets are on sale for "Play On", the a playwriting festival from July 23 – 25, at Oakton Community College’s Studio One, 1600 East Golf Road, Des Plaines, Oakton Community College's blog states.

Now in its fifth year, "Play On", features six original one-act plays written and directed by community college students starting nightly at 8 p.m.

Wednesday, July 24 – 6:30-8 p.m.: The Park It! Patrol will be in Menominee Park, 440 Laurel Street at Brown Street. This will be a free evening of games in the park. The Des Plaines Park District states that croquet, badminton, disk golf, bags, and beach ball volleyball will be featured.

Thursday, July 25 – 9 p.m. to midnight: 7th Heaven performs at Rivers Casino
