The Des Plaines Park District and the City of Des Plaines will host the 9th Annual National Women's Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, September 29, from 7:00–9:00am and 5:00–7:00pm at Prairie Lakes Community Center. The schedule of free events include: a workout day for all women in the Prairie Lakes Community Center; Indoor Spinning classes; Body Fat Analysis by Des Plaines Park District Personal Trainers, Mary Lou Anderson and Karen Grabowski; The City Nurse, Madeline May will do blood pressure checks and have Health & Wellness information; A nurse from Advocate Lutheran General Health Department, Laura Shelley, will have information on breast cancer and mammography; Maggie Osborne, American Cancer Society, will in giving out health information from the National Beef Council; Mary Kay Cosmetics representative, Bridgette Grajales, will be on hand to help with looking good and feeling good; a representative from Advanced Physical Medicine & Therapy, Tina Anawis, will be offering bone density testing; and Patricia Haugeberg, PSD Advisors, will have information on reducing stress through organizing.
