DESCRIPTION:Maine East Theatre students will delight audiences with a tri
 p back to the Roaring Twenties through their presentation of the musical
  comedy &ldquo\;Thoroughly Modern Millie&rdquo\; on Friday\, March 2\, S
 aturday\, March 3\, Friday\, March 9 and Saturday\, March 10. &nbsp\;All
  performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.\nSet in the flapper era\, this pro
 duction features a cast of 42 East students\, whom Director Karen Hall d
 escribes as an &ldquo\;awesome group of kids.&nbsp\; They are so hard-wo
 rking and energetic and have great talent.&rdquo\;\nHall\, a Maine East 
 Fine Arts teacher\, said: &ldquo\;What I love about this show is that it
 &rsquo\;s a throwback to good old-fashioned musicals: Boy meets girl\; b
 oy loses girl\; boy gets girl back. There is lots of great comedy and lo
 ts of great music.&rdquo\;\nAnd as is true of many of the school&rsquo\;
 s endeavors\, Maine East&rsquo\;s vibrant diversity will be on display. 
 &nbsp\;&ldquo\;When I looking at the leads &ndash\; the roles of Millie 
 (Marianna Veneri) and Jimmy (Mynor Pelaez) in this All- American musical
  &ndash\; I love that that he&rsquo\;s from Guatemala\, and she&rsquo\;s
  from Greece\, and that less than three years ago they literally weren&r
 squo\;t speaking English.&nbsp\; They are two of the most incredibly tal
 ented kids you&rsquo\;ll ever see on stage. &nbsp\;It&rsquo\;s such a co
 ol thing.&rdquo\;\nAudiences may be familiar with the show from the Acad
 emy-nominated 1967 movie by the same name starring &nbsp\;Julie Andrews\
 , Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Channing.\nWorking with Hall are Musical Di
