Historic Adventures Explores the Flavors of Jelly Belly--A Sweet Day-Trip to the Jelly Bean Factory
Started in 1869 by Gustav and Albert Goelitz, the Jelly Belly company still has family members in the corporation and the making of jelly beans. The Jelly Belly Center displays examples of older outdated equipment and photographs showing the history of the company. On this Historic Adventure, adults and children will share a 35 minute “train-ride tour” through the warehouse. Everyone will have a chance to sample a variety of Jelly Belly Beans, too! After the tour, participants will visit the Kenosha area and have lunch “on their own” at a nearby restaurant.

What are Historic Adventures? Historic Adventures are day-trips, outings, and occasional "in-house" programs of local and historic interest for the community and History Center members. Everyone is invited to attend. Historic Adventures are organized by volunteers Janet C. Thompson and William G. Grice, III.

More About Des Plaines History Center
Since 1967, Des Plaines History Center has been devoted to preserving all historical material related to Des Plaines and bringing together history buffs in the community. Its collection houses more than 31,000 objects and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries. It hosts lectures, tours, Boy and Girl Scout programs and participates in and helps organize festivals throughout the year. The center also contains a museum and gift shop.
