Our July Coffee Talk brings us author and teacher, Robert Klein Engler as he guides us through the massacre with a visual lecture. Mr. Engler will cover the August 15th event and how it is remembered, especially by the Carl-Rohl Smith statue, and the politics of remembrance, up to today.

More About Des Plaines History Center
Since 1967, Des Plaines History Center has been devoted to preserving all historical material related to Des Plaines and bringing together history buffs in the community. Its collection houses more than 31,000 objects and documents from the 19th and 20th centuries. It hosts lectures, tours, Boy and Girl Scout programs and participates in and helps organize festivals throughout the year. The center also contains a museum and gift shop.
