Chicago area Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, M. Vincent Makhlouf, MD, FACS launches video today explaining the differences between Botox and Fillers and the reasons to use one
over the other.

“Many of my patients are initially confused about Botox and Fillers, so I wanted to create this educational video to shed some light on the differences between the two. The answer lies in the understanding of the mechanism of formation of various wrinkles, and understanding how Botox and fillers work.”

Makhlouf begins by explaining that some wrinkles are a result of exaggerated lines of expression and other wrinkles are the result of tissue deflation or tissue relaxation or both. The lines between the eyebrows are primarily due to muscle contraction and the lines in the cheek and around the mouth are due to tissue deflation and tissue relaxation.

Makhlouf goes on to explain how Botox and Fillers work by illustrating the two in action by hand drawn slides.
