The nominees for Patch Athlete of the Week, April 2 – April 8:
Sully Stadler, senior, baseball, Glenbrook South – Stadler pitched a five-inning perfect game against Schaumburg last week. The Titans beat Schaumburg, 11-0, and Stadler struck out 10 batters in five innings. Stadler will play for Indiana University next year.
Kyle Richardson, senior, baseball, Maine South – Richardson was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two runs scored in Maine South’s 5-3 victory at home against Fremd. Richardson started the offense for Maine South, doubling in his first at-bat and scoring on a hit by Keenan Kelly.
Dave Bacalla, junior, boys tennis, Niles North – Bacalla repeated as the champion of the Ken Rosen Invitational at Niles West, beating Schaumburg’s Ben Brito, 6-0, 6-0, in the championship match. Bacalla only lost one game in his three matches to the title.
Colleen Ahern, senior, softball, Glenbrook North – Ahern went 3 for 4 at the plate with two home runs. In Glenbrook North’s 8-1 victory over highly regarded Leyden. Ahern also went 2 for 4 with a double in the Spartans’ victory over Palatine.
Charlie Binford, junior, baseball, Evanston – In the championship game of the Spring Classic in Orlando, Fla., Binford threw five innings and yielded only one earned run. The loss to James Madison (Va.), 4-2, completed Evanston’s spring break with the Wildkits earning a 3-1 record.
