Tuesday Blotter: American Flag, Checkbook Stolen, More

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.
Theft
Police stated a four-by-two-foot American flag was stolen from a place-holder in the yard of a residence in the 500 block of Warrington Road sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. on July 21. Property loss was estimated at $50.

Failure to Signal, Possession of Cannabis
While conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to use a turn signal in the 1300 block of Van Buren Avenue, police smelled cannabis in the car between 9:27 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on July 24, police stated.
When the officer asked the driver and two passengers if there was any cannabis in the vehicle, Reid Kunst, 18, of Arlington Heights, said, according to the report, he had a little bit of weed, and gave police a red plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, suspected to be cannabis.

After the three men exited the vehicle, police recovered a black bag from the car with a green leafy substance, suspected to be cannabis.
Julian R. Ruiz, 18, of Des Plaines, said, according to the report, the black bag was his. Ruiz and Kunst were issued citations for possession of cannabis and given a court date of Sept. 6 at Skokie courthouse.
The driver, Benjamin Hirsch Enggas, 21, of Des Plaines, was given a verbal warning for failing to signal when required.

Burglary to Vehicle
A vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Susan Drive was burglarized sometime between 5:30 p.m. on July 22 and 8 a.m. on July 23, police stated. Loose change and a checkbook were reported missing. Property loss was estimated at $10.

If you know how to read...he was given a verbal warning, not a ticket. Go back to school and take your reading class again.

And not signaling is why there are accidents..Turn signals are standard issue for a reason, it is not an option!!!
