Thursday Blotter: More than $1,700 in Medication Stolen from Jewel-Osco, More

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.
Retail Theft
Police stated two male subjects stole over-the-counter medications from Jewel-Osco, 1500 S. Lee Street, between 9:40 a.m. and 9:43 a.m. on July 7. According to the report, the men entered the store, took gift bags from the greeting card aisle, and filled them with multiple packages of Mucinex, Claritin, Aleve, Zegrid and Prevacid.
Police stated, on the same date, the men attempted similar thefts at the Jewel-Osco on Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines and at the Jewel-Osco in Rolling Meadows, but were "thwarted" at both locations.
Property loss was estimated at $1,790.56.

Vehicle Theft
Police stated an auto-carry trailer was stolen from the parking lot at Nu-Way Industries, 555 E. Howard Ave., sometime between 3 p.m. on July 4 and 8 a.m. on July 9. The chain securing the trailer to a fence was cut.

Criminal Damage to Property
A toilet exploded in the men’s room at West Park, 651 Wolf Road, after unknown fireworks were ignited sometime between midnight on July 4 and 11:20 p.m. on July 9. Property loss was estimated at $200.
