Thursday Blotter: Baby Jesus Stolen from Church’s Nativity Scene

Theft
Police were dispatched for a theft report at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 1069 E. Thacker St., on Dec. 21 at 10:20 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender took the baby Jesus from the nativity scene located outside the church sometime between Dec. 20 at 10 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 8 a.m. The Jesus was made out of plaster and had a light blue blanket on it.

Police responded to a report of theft in the 1500 block of E. Oakwood Ave. on Dec. 21 at 8:40 a.m. According to the report, an unknown offender removed a black, Honda water pump from the property sometime between Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. and Dec. 21 at 7 a.m. The pump was valued at $500.
Vehicle Theft
Police were dispatched for a vehicle theft report in the 2000 block of E. Craig Drive on Dec. 22 at 10:30 p.m. According to the report, the victim was delivering Chinese food to a customer and left his 1998, red, Plymouth Breeze sedan running, facing eastbound.
An unknown offender entered the vehicle and traveled eastbound on Craig Street and then southbound on Patton Drive. The victim told police he did not see the offender, but heard him or her honk the horn on the vehicle while traveling southbound on Patton Drive.
Police canvassed the area, but did not locate the vehicle. It was entered into the tracking system for auto thefts.
