Sweeney to Appear on Ballot for 55th Dist.
Unofficial totals show she has 2,319 votes.
Unofficial vote totals on Friday afternoon were 2,319 votes for Sweeney and 63 votes for Rep. Rosemary Mulligan, according to Kevin Artl, political director of the Illinois House Republican Organization. Mulligan announced in January she would not seek another term.
Sweeney, a Park Ridge Republican, will face-off against Marty Moylan, mayor of Des Plaines and a Democrat, to represent the district, which includes portions of Elk Grove Village, Des Plaines, Park Ridge and Rosemont.
“We’re compounding our debt because we’re borrowing more and we’re spending more, and the answer isn’t to tax more,” Sweeney said.
Sweeney said the only way to change Illinois was to get out and vote in representatives that are really willing to step up.
“We can change Illinois if we get the right people in office, and I believe the right people are going to the people that don’t put up with the same old shenanigans that we’ve had in Springfield,” Sweeney said.
