My condolences to the Henkes family. I believe I worked with Mark at the Des Plaines Publishing Company ( Suburban Times) in the early 1970's. I have a book that I think he wrote " Des Plaines: A History". He was a nice person.

Reading his book tonight. Very thorough account of the area from 1830's up to 1970's.

Yes my brother, Mark, did write the history book in 1975. He really enjoyed talking with the old timers and learning about Des Plaines

I knew Mark from High School. Great guy - I'm sure he will be missed. My condolences to the family.
