Law enforcement reported they believe they arrested a man is responsible for five armed bank robberies, and an attempted armed bank robbery in Des Plaines, in Kentucky. Todd Berkley, 39, dubbed the “Elmer Fudd Bandit” by the FBI due to the flannel shirts and caps seen on a male suspect in surveillance video, was arrested at an apartment building by Kentucky State Police and the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department on Nov. 2, the Grayson County News Gazette reported.

Law enforcement received an anonymous tip following a bank robbery that occurred at a U.S. Bank in Louisville on Thursday, the Grayson County News Gazette reported, Berkley was arrested for the outstanding felony warrant in Illinois, first-degree robbery and possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. A woman found at the residence was also arrested on drug-related charges.

According to the BanditTracker website, the FBI suspects Berkley was responsible for robbing a TCF Bank on N. Cumberland Avenue in Chicago on Oct. 13, attempting to rob a TCF Bank on Elmhurst Road in Des Plaines on Oct. 14, robbing a Charter One bank in Norridge on Oct. 15, robbing a TCF Bank in Stickney on Oct. 24, robbing a TCF Bank on Foster Avenue in Chicago on Oct. 29 and a US Bank in Louisville on Nov. 1.

In addition to the similar clothing worn by the male subject in surveillance video, in many of the incidents, including the one in Des Plaines, the man approached a bank teller with a notepad that stated to give him money, and he threatened to injure the teller.

In the attempted armed robbery in Des Plaines on Oct. 14 the man approached the shift supervisor at the TCF Bank, and said, “Give me all your money or I’ll blow your head off.” He then showed the bank worker a notepad, which stated, according to police, “Give me all your money.”
