The gymnasium at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road, in Des Plaines was packed with blue and gold, and the enthusiastic cheering of the students shook the floorboards, when the school gathered for the homecoming assembly on Friday. Athletic teams, student clubs and organizations, activities and a storyline that fit this year’s theme, “Pirate’s Life for West,” with an appearance by Captain Jack Sparrow, composed an hour-and-a-half of excitement.

Homecoming activities continue Friday evening with a parade and football game, followed by the dance on Saturday. Here’s a schedule for homecoming weekend at Maine West with more information.
