Monday Blotter: Man Yells at Kids on Playground, Cited For Public Drinking

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Drinking in Public

Jose F. Benavides-Carranza, 32, of Des Plaines, was issued a citation for drinking in public after he was reported drinking a beer and yelling at kids playing at a playground in the 1100 block of Howard Avenue between 6:10 p.m. and 6:23 p.m. on July 9. Police found Benavides-Carranza sitting on a bench with an open can of Ice House beer. He was given a court date of Aug. 6 at Skokie courthouse.

Theft

A purse containing cash, keys, checks, identification cards, a cell phone and other items was reported stolen at a residence in the 1400 block of Margret Street sometime between 8:35 a.m. and 8:41 a.m. on July 7. Police stated the purse was discovered to be missing after it was left on a table at a garage sale. Property loss was estimated at $375.

Attempt Theft, Criminal Damage to Property

A garden gnome was broken in a residence yard in the 500 block of S. Third Avenue sometime between 9 p.m. on July 6 and 3:30 p.m. on July 7. Police stated the unknown offenders attempted to remove a wooden bridge, but were unsuccessful because it was chained down. In the process, the garden gnome that was on the bridge was broken. This was the second vandalism and theft incident at this residence in the past two weeks. Property loss was estimated at $20.

If you own a garden gnome, you need to realize that someone's eventually gonna steal it and probably take pictures of it in weird places.
