Man Uses Pellet Gun in Armed Robbery
K-9 unit tracked offender’s scent to Jiffy Lube on Elmhurst Road.
Des Plaines police responded to an armed robbery report at a residence in the 400 block of 800 S. Beau Drive at 12:30 a.m. on June 10. A man told police, while walking to his parked car, between 12:20 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. on June 10, a male subject, 18-20 years old, wearing a dark camouflage hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, pulled out a small black pistol, pointed it at him and said, “Give me all you got.”
The man told the offender his wallet was in his car, emptied his pockets and gave the offender a black iPhone 4S and his car keys. The offender told the man to give him his rings, one gold ring with a unique American Indian design, and one gold/titanium ring.
The offender ordered the man to the rear, driver’s side of the car while he removed the man’s wallet, containing $300 in cash, credit cards and his driver’s license, from inside the vehicle. He then threw the keys on top of the car and fled the scene, walking southbound on Beau Drive.
Police established a perimeter on the scene and recovered a black Sig Sauer pellet gun used in the robbery under a bush at another residence in the 800 block of Beau Drive, one block west of where the armed robbery occurred.
A K-9 unit arrived on the scene, and tracked the offender to the Jiffy Lube, 777 S. Elmhurst Road, before losing the scent.
Property loss was estimated at $1,255.
