Man Urinates on Sidewalk, More in Tuesday Blotter

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

The Des Plaines Police Department provided the following reports.

Retail Theft

A bottle of tea, a candy bar and another unknown item were reported stolen at a convenience store on the 2500 block of E. Ballard Road sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 2:33 a.m. on Feb. 2. Police stated four unknown male subjects entered the store, according to a witness, and, while two of the men waited at the doorway, the other two men took the tea, candy and other unknown items from the shelf, and then left without paying for them. Property loss was estimated at $4.

Burglary

Police responded to a burglary alarm at a residence on the 1700 block of E. Touhy Avenue sometime between 6:15 p.m. and 7:14 p.m. on Feb. 1. Police found the front door of the residence unsecured with a splintered door jam, according to the report, and numerous drawers were found open. Police stated nothing appeared to be missing from the residence, and property loss was estimated at $200.

Obscene Conduct – Urinating Upon The Public Way

Albert Campbell, 52, of Des Plaines, was issued a citation for obscene conduct – urinating upon the public way after police found him urinating on the sidewalk on the 1400 block of Ellinwood Street at 11:03 a.m. on Feb. 2, police stated. Campbell was given a court date of March 5 at Skokie courthouse.

He is homeless and has only 1 arm. I wish they would leave him alone. He is harmless.

You wouldn't say he was harmless if he urinated on your property! It doesn't matter if he's handicapped, he has to live by the law like everyone else.

If someone were to urinate on my property I wouldn't have them arrested unless it was in full view of people or kids. Yes he should abide by the law but they keep arresting this guy when he's really not hurting anybody. It's not disorderly conduct. I've seen they've arrested him for sleeping in the parking garage stairwell at night or a park bench. Not hurting anybody. Come by St. Mary's on a Friday night and help with the homeless. You'll see.

No thank you. There are bathrooms around where they can go, there are shelters as well. It's not disorderly conduct but it breeds and spreads diseases. I for one am proud of the Des Plaines police, they are a good bunch of guys and they have to face disgusting stuff like this everyday, because people have decided since they've fallen on hard times they are entitled to flout the rules of decency.
