Intoxicated on Roadway Suspect Charged with Drug Possession, More in Monday Blotter

Intoxicated Pedestrian in Roadway, Possession of Cannabis
Police responded to an intoxicated subject report at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood St., at 11:25 a.m. on Nov. 17.
Police located the subject, later identified as Olawale O. Babalola, 32, of Des Plaines, as he walked through the intersection of Prairie Avenue at Center Street. Babalola walked slowly, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech, police stated.
Babalola told police, according to the report, he did not have a driver’s license, bond card or bond money in order for them to issue him a citation.
Babalola was transported to the police station, and while searching his jacket, according to the report, police located a small plastic bag with a green leafy substance that tested positive for the probable presence of Cannabis.
Babalola was on parole in the state of Illinois when he was arrested, police stated, and was charged with intoxicated pedestrian in roadway and possession of Cannabis.

Drinking in Public
William Earl Spelz, 53, residence unknown, was issued a citation for drinking in public after police reported finding Spelz sitting on a public parkway on the 300 block of S. River Road, holding a half-empty 40-ounce bottle of Magnum Malt Liquor, at 11:58 a.m. on Nov. 19.
Police stated Spelz smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet, and, being unable to answer basic questions, was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for evaluation. Spelz was given a court date of Dec. 20 at Skokie courthouse.
