Why Go: Enjoy yoga with the whole family at Des Plaines’ new yoga studio! Good for kids ages 7-12 years old. Class includes breathing, yoga poses, games, art and relaxation.

Power Employment Workshop

When/Where: Sunday, Aug. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Ave. in Des Plaines.

Why Go: A workshop presented by Illinois WorkNet covering job search techniques, resume, cover letter and interview. Registration is required.

Pricing: Free.

Vienna Waltz Ensemble

When/Where: Sunday, Aug. 19, 2-3 p.m. at Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Ave. in Des Plaines.

Why Go: The ensemble will present a program of Viennese dance music in the spirit of Old Vienna. The combination of bass and two violins was the 1800s equivalent of a rock band, causing an uproar in polite society and sweeping dance halls, coffee houses, taverns and palaces across Europe.

Pricing: Free.

Park Ridge Farmers' Market

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 18, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Prairie Avenue and Garden Street in Park Ridge.

Why Go: The Park Ridge Farmers' Market features fresh fruits, vegetables, baked goods, handmade soaps, flowers, potted plants and more.

Pricing: Free.

Runners U: Community Education Symposium for Runners

When/Where: Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 Dempster St. in Park Ridge.

Why Go: Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Illinois Bone and Joint Institution and Chicago Medical School physicians and professionals will present interactive lectures on topics including medical conditions of runners, how yoga can be beneficial to runners and discovering if barefoot running is right for you.

Keynote speaker Craig Virgin is a three-time U.S. Track and Field Olympian and two-time World Cross Country Champion. Breakfast will be served for all registered participants.

Pricing: $10 for ages 20 and under and $25 for ages 21 and older.

Outdoors Laughter Class for Adults

When/Where: Sunday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Northwest Park, 1330 N. Northwest Highway in Park Ridge.

Why Go: Benefits of group include laughter, exercise for your heart and lungs, lowers one's blood pressure, tones the whole body, deep breathing, fun, contagious laughter when eye-contact occurs and no right or wrong way to laugh. All are welcome. Just show up at the Park on Sunday.
