The students collected money for the Forest PTC and the Des Plaines Self-Help Closet & Food Pantry.
Forest Elementary School students came together to raise money for a good cause.
The school's student council challenged the student body to bring in coins to support the Forest PTC and the Des Plaines Self-Help Closet & Food Pantry. The students collected $718, which was used to purchase food through Market Day for the food pantry.

Easy there, buddy. Just hope you're never hungry enough to have to avail yourself of the pantry's services. You could be just one pink slip or layoff away, you know.
My question is: Why buy the food through Market Day? I know it helps the school, but it's about four times as expensive as going to Aldi or Tony's. With the same amount of money, they could have fed many more people this month.
