Feds: Swan to Blame for Des Plaines Drowning Death

The drowning death of a 37-year-old Villa Park man in April was the fault of swans a federal agency has found, according to CBS News.

A federal investigation into the April drowning death of a Villa Park man found that swans were to blame for the incident, CBS reported.

Anthony Hensley drowned in a pond in rural Des Plaines after falling from kayak. Hensley worked for Knox Swan and Dog, a goose control company based in Barrington. There was a man-made swan nest in the middle of the pond.

The incident happened in the 9300 block of Bay Colony Drive. Hensley placed live swans in the pond to keep geese away. Officials believed that Hensley had fallen out of the kayak as a result of an attacking swan.

The federal investigation by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration found that Hensley's employer did not violate an safety regulations, CBS reported.
