Des Plaines Road Construction Updates

The following road construction updates were published on the City of Des Plaines’ website on Aug. 17. All work is weather dependent. Unknown utilities and conflicts may also cause delays. Click here to for all the construction updates for Des Plaines.

  1. Sixth Avenue from Forest to Van Buren: The contractor is scheduled to place the surface course of asphalt this week. Miscellaneous preparation work will also be completed. The contractor is scheduled to place sod late in the week.
  2. Birchwood Avenue from Wolf to Douglas: The contractor will continue miscellaneous cleanup of the job site and continue construction of the concrete aprons.
  3. Elmira Avenue from South End to Birchwood: The contractor will continue miscellaneous cleanup of the job site and continue construction of the concrete aprons.
  4. Jarvis Avenue from East End to Douglas: The contractor will continue miscellaneous cleanup of the job site.
  5. Douglas Avenue from Jarvis to South End: The contractor will continue miscellaneous cleanup of the job site, begin removals of the existing pavement, driveway aprons. Excavation for the roadway widening will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The city expects the work to take 10 days.
