When the witnesses confronted Principato, according to the report, he threatened both of them with bodily harm if they called the police.

The front window of the store was shattered, and the approximate value of the merchandise was $2,600, police stated.

Principato was arrested on June 17, 2012 and bond was set at $25,000. He was given a court date of June 27 at Skokie courthouse.

Commander Nick Treantafeles stated in an email to Patch that police had contact with Principato in the past.

“[Principato] does have a criminal past with our department and we have had other contacts, non- criminal, with him,” Treantafeles stated.
