Des Plaines Man Charged with Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance

The following arrest information was supplied by the Des Plaines Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Des Plaines man has been charged in connection with an incident on Monday night involving a report of a naked man covered in what appeared to be blood near Campbell Avenue and Center Street, Des Plaines police stated on Wednesday.

Andrew R. Frame, 35, was charged with one misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and six felonies, four for unlawful possession of a controlled substance, including heroin and cocaine, one for unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and one for permitting unlawful use of a building for manufacturing of a controlled substance.

Earlier: Battery at Rivers Casino, rental car not returned, more.

Sergeant Michael Holdman said what appeared to be a meth lab at first, now appears to be an ecstasy lab, but lab results from the materials recovered would determine that. Holdman said this was the first ecstasy lab they have uncovered.

“We’re really shocked it was an ecstasy lab,” Holdman said. “Usually ecstasy is shipped in from other countries.”

Frame is still hospitalized, Holdman said. Police believe he was injured from a sliding glass shower door because they found it was shattered inside his residence, he said.

Frame told police at the time, according to the report, he was forced to fight someone, and there was someone murdered in his house, which prompted police to force entry, Holdman said. Police did not find anyone else injured in connection with the incident, he said.

Sgt. Holdman said the equipment in this lab was a higher grade than equipment found in a meth lab in 2011.
