Des Plaine Police Officer Gets $125K in Settlement

City pays in exchange for dropping discrimination case.

 

The city of Des Plaines has agreed to pay Sgt. Matthew Hicks a $125,000 payout and an additional $30,372 into a retirement account, in exchange for leaving the police force and dropping a discrimination case against the police department, according to an article at Triblocal.com.

Hicks was charged with internal misconduct by the Des Plaines Police Department, but the matter was dropped after the two parties agreed on a settlement. Hicks has also been accused of battery in Huntley, where he lives, for allegedly striking a woman and pulling her hair, according to Triblocal.com. Read the full story here.
