New Year's Eve Rock 'n' Roll Ball

Where/When: Intercontinental Chicago O'Hare, 5300 N. River Road in Rosemont, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Why Go: Join the festivities at the hotel's 15th annual New Year's Eve Rock 'n' Roll Ball. ABC 7 News broadcasts “Countdown Chicago” during performances by OLD 97's, Cathy Richards & The Macrodots, Hairbanger's Ball, Imposter Radio and DJ Roland. There will be an open bar and party favors.

Prime Rib Special and Home Before Midnight

Where/When: Club Casa Café, 353 N. River Road, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: If you want to indulge in a prime rib dinner and Stella Artois pints for a great price and make it home before midnight, this restaurant and sports bar is the place to be.

Pricing: The prime rib dinner is $13.95 and Stella Artois pints are $4.

Free Pool and Appetizers at Lee Street Sports Bar

Where/When: Lee Street Games & Sports Bar, 1122 Lee St., 7 p.m.

Why Go: Free pool all night, raffles and live music will contribute to the merrymaking. Drink specials include $2 well drinks and domestic bottles, $3 import bottles and $4 shots and you-call-it drinks. You can also nibble on free snacks throughout the night. Sign up by Dec. 26.

Why Go: A DJ will be playing music while customers ring in the New Year with an open bar, champagne toast and New York Strip steak dinner.

Open Bar at Miner Street Tavern

Where/When: Miner Street Tavern, 1492 Miner St., 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Why Go: This lively tavern is having a three-hour open bar starting at 10 p.m., complimentary champagne toast, party favors and live DJs until 4 a.m.

Annual New Years Eve Overnighter

Where/When: Administrative and Leisure Center, 2222 Birch St., starts at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and ends at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Why Go: Kids don't have to sit around and watch parents have all the fun. Children in grades one through eight can head over to the Des Plaines Park District's Annual New Years Eve Overnighter for gym sports and games, arts and crafts, board games, movies and a game room. Dinner and breakfast are included, and registration ends Dec. 28.
