“Tour Des Plaines” Bike Ride: A Great Success
Approximately 300 bicyclists participated in the 2012 Tour Des Plaines Bike Ride, sponsored by Mayor Martin J. Moylan, the Des Plaines Police Department, and the Des Plaines Park District, in conjunction with Des Plaines Fall Fest, on Saturday, September 15, 2012. The family bike
ride, which was approximately 9 miles and began and concluded from Des Plaines Lake Park, has become an annual tradition – with this year’s being the fourth.
Some of the many sponsors who helped make the 2012 Tour Des Plaines a success include Prospect Bikes & Trains, Fifth/Third Bank, Lutheran General Hospital, Panera Bread, Karis Management (who provided Ronald McDonald), Chiro
One, and American Water. Many community volunteers
added to the event’s success, as did several agencies including the Police Auxiliary, Homeland Security & Emergency Management , Citizens On Patrol (COP), and Fire Corps.
Tour Des Plaines participants were given free t-shirts and were able to participate in a Fifth Third Bank sponsored drawing for a bicycle from Prospect Bikes & Trains.
