The Des Plaines Theatre to Announce Grand Opening

After more than a year, the numerous renovations and restorations of the historic Des Plaines Theatre are primed and ready to be revealed on “11/11/11” at 8 p.m. After 24 years split into two dark screens, the Des Plaines Theatre is reopening its doors and relighting its stage as a live rental and presenting venue.

The festivities will begin with the lighting of the legendary marquee and followed directly by the theater doors opening for the very first time since 2010. Upon entering guests will be transported back to the 1920s by the upbeat and swingin’ tunes of Chicago’s very own Shout Section Big Band, featured on “WGN Morning News”. The evening will continue with delicious hors d’voeuvers, cocktails and specialty 1920s drinks.

The theater also will pay tribute to America’s veterans with a special guest singing the National Anthem in honor of Veterans Day.

The Des Plaines Theater is centrally located in downtown Des Plaines, Ill., directly across from the local Metra station.
