National Merit Semifinalist from Resurrection

Resurrection College Prep High School senior Gabrielle Carsello ’13 of Glenview, who attended St. John Brebeuf School in Niles, has been named as a Semifinalist in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 1.5 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Of those 1.5 million juniors only 16,000 were chosen as semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, including the highest entrants in each state. National Merit Scholars have the opportunity to be considered for more than $32 million in scholarships that will be offered next spring.
At Resurrection, Gabrielle Carsello is a Res Scholar, a Student Ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society (NHS). She is also President of Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE), Vice President of the Creative Writing Club, and on the staff of ResBanner, the Resurrection student news magazine. As a writer, Gabrielle is currently writing a series of short story mysteries and hopes to have her stories published in the future.
Gabrielle Carsello is a graduate from St. John Brebeuf School and is involved as a lector and with the
youth group at her parish, St. Isaac Jogues.
Speaking of her experience at Resurrection College Prep High School, Gabrielle said that she has developed “confidence that I can lead and do my best in life. I feel prepared that I can do whatever comes my way.” She is currently applying to colleges and hopes to attend Northwestern University where she plans to study Elementary and Special Education.
