Memorial Day will soon be here and Des Plaines will once again be honoring all those who gave their lives in defense of freedom and all those who have served or are serving today.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2992 and American Legion Post 36 will have three ceremonies on Monday, May 28, 2012:

8:15 am: All Saints Cemetery – 700 N. River Rd.

9:00 am: Ridgewood Cemetery – 9900 Milwaukee Ave.

11:00 am: Lake Park Memorial Pavilion – 2200 Lee St.

The Lake Park Memorial activities will be the main event of the day and will include the Maine West High School Band lead by Bernie Gerstmeier, a guest speaker and local dignitaries.  There will also be the traditional wreath laying by clubs and organizations. Those wishing to present a wreath will need to sign up at the podium prior to the Memorial or they may call Steven Schaefer at 847-452-6991. The public is invited.
