Maine West High School recently inducted its first membership class into the school’s newly established Spanish National Honor Society, Chapter Itálica.  To be eligible for membership in the chapter, students must be currently enrolled in a Spanish class and to have earned four consecutive semester grades of an 'A' and one 'A' or 'B' for the 5th semester. 

Twenty-six juniors and seniors met these criteria and were inducted during a Feb. 8 ceremony. All are currently enrolled in Spanish 4, Spanish 4 Accelerated or Spanish 5 Advanced Placement. “We are very proud to have started our Chapter Itálica at Maine West and look forward to increasing our membership in the coming years,” said sponsor Jazmin Barbas, who teaches courses in Spanish 2 and Spanish 4 Accelerated.
