This year, Golden Apple selected 135 Illinois high school students whom it will groom to be the top teachers of the future. One of them is former District 62 and now, a Maine West student, Leah Urias. Golden Apple will provide financial aid over the next four years to attend an Illinois university, but perhaps more important, it will provide related guidance, mentoring and training. 

 After sharing her plans for the future, Urias received a Certificate of Achievement Award from President Murphy.  She also assisted with the Middle School Students You Should Know presentation.
