Des Plaines Volunteer Honored with Statewide Award
Bob Neil of Des Plaines was honored on Dec. 27 by Maine Township officials and staff. He was presented with the 2012 AITCOY Youth Volunteer Award. The Award was originally to be given at the Annual Conference of the Township Officials of Illinois in November but Neil was unable to attend so it was presented by Evelyn Fennell, Director of MaineStay and a representative of AITCOY.
There at the ceremony, l to r in the front row, were Trustee Walter Kazmierczak, Trustee Laura Morask, Fennell, Neil, and Supervisor Carol Teschky. In the back row, l to r, were Trustee Peter Gialamas, Clerk Gary K. Warner and Highway Commissioner Robert Provenzano.
Neil was honored for his volunteer work with MaineStay’s Mentoring Program where he spent about four years with a 12-year-old boy in need of companionship and a positive role model. He is also well-known in the area for extensive volunteer work and charitable deeds.
