Des Plaines Fire Department Receives Illinois American Water Grant

The Des Plaines Fire Department will be purchasing reflective striping tape to apply to emergency response vehicles, thanks to a $1250 grant by Illinois American Water (IAW).  The IAW 2012 Firefighter Grant Program provides financial assistance to fire and emergency organizations serving communities in its service areas.  Last week IAW Operation Supervisor Tim Morris visited the Des Plaines Fire Department to personally present the check.  (pictured above left to right) Des Plaines Fire Chief Alan Wax, IAW Operation Supervisor Tim Morris, Fire Department Analyst Pedro Pelaez and Deputy Fire Chief Randy Trost pose for a photograph as the $1250 check is presented at Fire Station Number 1.

Illinois American Water provides water service to the west side of Des Plaines, and charges them accordingly for it. Water bills for those residents are twice or three times as high as residents to the east of them. When looking at candidates for mayor of Des Plaines next year let's see if any of them are aware of this injustice and are willing to eliminate it when the time comes.
