Thousands gathered along Center Street in Des Plaines to watch the July 4th Parade.  Governor Pat Quinn joined Mayor Martin J. Moylan and other officials as they walked down the parade route.  Before marching in the parade the Governor signed three bills eancting laws for veterans and presented a Proclamation to the Wessell family who served as the Des Plaines July 4th Parade Marshalls. 

The July 4th Parade is coordinated in Des Plaines by Special Events Commissioner Carol Shannon who volunteers to oversee the event. 

Despite severe temperatures, the parade went on as planned and residents and visitors had a memorable July 4th in Des Plaines.

This is the 3rd year Governor Quinn marched in the parade.
