City Clerk Announces Voter/Election Information
Des Plaines City Clerk Gloria J. Ludwig has provided the following information:
2013 is an election year for the position of Des Plaines Mayor, City Clerk and Alderman in Wards 1, 3, 5, and 7. The Consolidated Election will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Listed below are some key dates for the local election:
Tuesday, September 25, 2012: Candidate’s Packet is available for pickup in the City Clerk’s Office, 6th Floor, City Hall, 1420 Miner Street, and first day to distribute Candidate Petitions.
Monday, December 17, 2012: First day to file Candidate Petitions beginning at 8:30 AM, City Clerk’s Office.
Monday, December 24, 2012: Last day to file Candidate Petitions, by 5 PM, in the City Clerk’s Office
Tuesday, April 9, 2013: Election Day
The following dates apply to the Presidential General Election:
Thursday, September 27, 2012: First day mail ballot applications are accepted
Tuesday, October 9, 2012: Last day to register to vote
Wednesday, October 10, 2012: First day of grace period registration and voting
Monday, October 22, 2012: First day of Early Voting
(From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, October 22, to Saturday, October 27, and Monday, October 29 to Saturday, November 3, Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner Street)
Thursday, November 1, 2012: Last day to request a mail ballot, including military and overseas voters
Saturday, November 3, 2012: Last day of Early Voting
Saturday, November 3, 2012: Last day of grace period registration and voting
Sunday, November 4, 2012: In person absentee voting begins at the County Clerk’s downtown Chicago office and five suburban courthouse mini-centers. For locations and hours, check:

Monday, November 5, 2012: Last day voted mail ballots can be postmarked for acceptance by the County Clerk’s office
